- Buy a home worth at least EUR 375,000, or rent one for at least EUR 14,000 a year, held for at least five years
- Pay the government administration fee of EUR 60,000, a government contribution of EUR 37,000 and a charitable donation of EUR 2,000
- Show assets of a specified level (generally EUR 500,000, of which at least EUR 150,000 in financial assets)
- Pass due diligence and hold health insurance

What is the difference between renting and buying?
The government contribution is the same. Renting keeps more capital liquid; buying gives you an asset, which must be held for at least five years.
Do I need to live in Malta?
There is no minimum stay requirement, but you must keep the property.
Can I apply myself?
No. Applications must be made through a licensed agent approved by Residency Malta Agency.
