Canada: the routes at a glance
Canadian business immigration is mainly through the provincial nominee programmes: you invest in a province and run the business yourself, are nominated by the province once you meet the requirements, and then apply to the federal government for permanent residence. The federal Start-up Visa (SUV) stopped accepting new applications in 2026; applications already filed continue to be processed. As permanent residents, children attend public schools free of charge, and after three years of residence you can apply for citizenship.
