This is an illustrative scenario: the people and details are for explanation only and are not a real client case. Every family’s outcome depends on its background and the policies in force at the time.
Background
Mr Wang (pseudonym), Taipei, founder of a medical device company, wife and two children. He wanted to develop his technology in Australia.
Main concern
He worried the NIV was highly competitive and he might not be invited.
Our approach
Through an incubator he built an R&D project, secured a Form 1000 nomination and prepared his expression of interest, with an honest assessment of his competitiveness.
Process and outcome
He was invited and granted permanent residence.
Adviser’s comment
The NIV is invitation-only — evidence and nomination are the keys.
Australia NIV application process
- Assessment and incubation agreement (About 2–4 weeks): We assess your background and project direction and sign the incubation agreement.
- Nomination and expression of interest (About 4 weeks): The incubator helps secure the Form 1000 nomination and you submit an expression of interest (EOI).
- Invitation and application (4–8 weeks): Once invited, you must lodge the visa application within 60 days.
- Decision and arrival (About 6–12 months): Once approved, travel to Australia to activate permanent residence, set up the company and advance R&D and commercialisation.
