Hong Kong’s New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (CIES): What Counts as a Permissible Investment?

Permissible asset classes

These include shares, bonds, funds and real estate. Real estate (residential and non-residential combined) counts for up to HKD 10 million; residential property must be a single property meeting the transaction price requirement.

Holding through a company

Since March 2026, applicants can hold permissible assets through a wholly owned, eligible Hong Kong private holding company, making family wealth easier to manage.

Net asset requirement

Net assets of at least HKD 30 million held continuously for the six months before applying.
