Short answer: Grenada’s donation route starts at USD 235,000 for citizenship; the passport is visa-free to Schengen and the UK (with ETA). If you plan to use Grenadian nationality for a US E-2 investor visa, under rules from 2022 those who obtained citizenship by investment generally must first live in Grenada for three years.

The key E-2 limitation
- The US E-2 is for nationals of countries with a bilateral treaty with the US.
- Grenada is a treaty country, so E-2 is available in principle.
- For those who obtained nationality through citizenship by investment, US rules generally require three years’ residence in that country before applying for E-2 on that nationality.
- So “passport then immediate E-2” is usually not possible — allow time for residence.
Who it suits
- Wanting a Caribbean passport for travel and as a back-up, with a medium-term plan for US E-2
- Able to live in Grenada to meet the three-year requirement
- Planning to invest in and run a US business that meets E-2 capital and operational rules
Points to note
- E-2 is a non-immigrant visa, not a green card; it can be renewed but is not permanent residence.
- How the three years are counted and evidenced must follow current US rules and the individual case — have a qualified lawyer assess before applying.
- If the main goal is a US green card, compare EB-5 or other immigrant categories rather than relying on E-2 alone.
