What a conditional green card allows
- Live and work in any US state
- Children attend public schools as residents
- Travel in and out of the US (the US must be your main residence)
During the two years
- Keep the investment in place: the capital must remain at risk during the conditional period.
- Make the US your main residence: long absences can affect your status; apply for a re-entry permit if needed.
- Prepare I-829: file before the two years end, showing the investment was sustained and the jobs created.
Family
Your spouse and unmarried children under 21 also hold conditional green cards and file I-829 with you.
Towards citizenship
The two conditional years count towards the five years needed to apply for citizenship.
