This is an illustrative scenario: the people and details are for explanation only and are not a real client case. Every family’s outcome depends on its background and the policies in force at the time.
Background
Mr Lee (pseudonym), Hong Kong, wife and one child. He wanted to move to Taiwan while keeping his Hong Kong status.
Main concern
He worried about the requirements to run the company and hire staff.
Our approach
He invested NT$6,000,000 to set up a design company, hired two full-time Taiwanese staff, and planned his days of residence.
Process and outcome
After one year of continuous residence he applied to settle, and the family received Taiwan ID cards.
Adviser’s comment
The company must genuinely operate, and residence days must be planned from the start.
