No. The SUV is paused for new applications; holders of a valid 2025 commitment certificate had until 30 June 2026 to apply.
Will applications already filed be cancelled?
No. IRCC says it continues to process accepted applications.
How long does processing take?
Business immigration has a large backlog, so processing is slow. Applicants in Canada on an SUV work permit are prioritised.
When will the new entrepreneur programme launch?
IRCC says a new pilot programme for immigrant entrepreneurs will follow, with more information to be communicated in 2026. No date has been set.
What was the language requirement?
The SUV required IELTS 5; the new programme’s requirements are subject to official announcements.

- Support from a designated organisation (venture capital fund, angel investor group or business incubator)
- Language at IELTS 5
- Settlement funds based on family size (for example CAD 15,263 for a single applicant, CAD 28,362 for a family of four)
Was an investment required?
The SUV had no minimum investment or net worth requirement. The incubator route needed no large investment.
