Short answer: Argentina CBI (announced framework) targets citizenship via about US$350,000 Treasury contribution or US$800,000 bond. US EB-5 targets a conditional green card then permanent residence via US$800,000 / $1,050,000 investment. One is passport/nationality-led; the other is U.S. settlement-led. In 2026 do not treat them as the same product.
How do outcomes differ?
| Item | Argentina CBI (announced) | US EB-5 |
|---|---|---|
| Outcome | Citizenship / passport track | Conditional GC → permanent residence |
| Main-applicant order of magnitude | $350k contribution or $800k bond | $800k (TEA/set-aside) or $1.05M |
| Residence | Framework without ordinary 2-year stay rule | Green card has residence and tax consequences to plan |
| Jobs | Not a U.S. job-creation model | Generally 10 jobs |
| Status (Oct 2026) | Q4 intake target; rules still landing | Live filings (fees rise 30 Nov) |

Who should prioritise which?
- Argentina framework: second passport, regional mobility, no plan to settle long-term in the U.S.; tolerance for a new program still implementing.
- EB-5: long-term U.S. residence, work and schooling; willingness to complete funds, project diligence and I-526E/I-829.
Families may stage both, but capital and risk must be calculated separately.
What documents can you prepare early?
Both stress lawful, traceable funds. Build identity and family records, police certificates, bank trails, and evidence of salary, dividends or asset sales. EB-5 usually needs a tighter chronological path; Argentina also emphasises origin and due diligence. Do not wire Argentina “investment” funds before official opening; EB-5 wires must match a specific escrow and subscription.
Global Immigrate’s recommendation
Write the family goal first: U.S. green card, second citizenship, or both with a priority order. Then separate budgets (including family add-ons) and risk lists (Argentina: opening and legal execution; EB-5: project, backlog, I-829). Start source-of-funds engineering early; pay and sign only through open, verifiable official or compliant project channels.
