For foreign passport holders. The business route requires investing at least NT$15,000,000 in a Taiwan company, by setting one up or increasing its capital, and creating at least five jobs for Taiwanese nationals for three years; the bond route requires at least NT$30,000,000 in central government bonds held for three years. Once approved by the National Immigration Agency, you receive an APRC, and your spouse and minor children can apply for permanent residence too. A lower-threshold alternative is to invest USD 200,000 or more for residence, then apply for permanent residence after five years of legal, continuous residence with at least 183 days a year in Taiwan, provided you also meet the other conditions (aged 18 or over, good conduct, sufficient assets or skills to support yourself, among others); the years of residence alone are not enough.

They generally use the Hong Kong and Macau residents’ route (NT$6,000,000), which has a lower threshold and leads to settlement and a Taiwan ID.
The APRC is permanent residence, letting you live in Taiwan long term; Taiwan nationality and an ID require naturalisation, which generally means giving up your original nationality.
No. You only need to hold central government bonds for three years, with no business or staff.
Once you have permanent residence, your spouse and minor children can apply for it too.
Mainland residents come under separate cross-Strait rules and generally cannot gain residence or settlement through investment; this is assessed case by case.
Your tax residency, asset structure and succession arrangements matter most before you move. GI Group can handle tax planning, asset management and wealth succession, your children’s education overseas, and buying a home or investment property in your new country.
