Skills shortage lists amended

The Long Term Skill Shortage List (formerly the Priority Occupations List (POL)) and the Immediate Skill Shortage List (formerly the Occupational Shortages List (OSL)) have been amended as the result of a supplementary review carried out in February.

Key changes

Long Term Skill Shortage List (formerly the Priority Occupations List (POL))

  • Early childhood teachers have been added.
  • The definition of experience required by Senior Test Analysts has been clarified.
  • The IT Technology Specialisations section has been rearranged to enhance clarity.

Immediate Skill Shortage List (formerly the Occupational Shortage List (OSL))

Added to all regions

  • 10 specific categories of printer
  • Automotive refinishers/spraypainters
  • Fibreglass tradespeople

Removed

  • Qualified ESOL teachers

Removed and added to the Long Term Skill Shortage List (formerly POL)

  • Early childhood teachers (now in modified form on LTSSL)

Qualifications updated

  • Instrument control technicians now require the appropriate Level 4 National Certificate (changed from BE (Mechanical)).

IT skills in shortage

 

The Long Term Skill Shortage List's schedule of IT skills in shortage has been applied to the Immediate Skill Shortage List.

Details concerning the changes to student policy announced by the Minister of Immigration on 19 April 2005 are now available.

Amendment Circular (No. 2005/04) contains amendments to Government immigration policy and Government residence policy in the NZIS Operational Manual.
The total points you need to qualifiy for skilled migration is at least 100 points.
