Long Term Business Visa Category (Temporary)


Long Term Business Visa is a temporary category, which has been designed by New Zealand Immigration Service to enable two types of people i.e.

Who are potential migrants interested in applying for residence under the Entrepreneur Category after successfully running a business for two years in New Zealand.
                                                                                     OR
For people who are interested in establishing a business in New Zealand but do not wish to live permanently in New Zealand.

To be eligible to apply under the Long Term Business Visa category following are few of the mandatory requirements:

  • Been directly accountable for all operational aspects of the business in the past including financial performance, organisational development, human resource issues and marketing strategies.
  • Having investment funds in the transferable form capable of being transferred to New Zealand through a bank transfer.
  • Having sufficient funds over and above the investment funds for accommodation and maintenance during the validity period of the visa.
  • Principal applicant should be capable of meeting minimum standard of English prescribed in the New Zealand Immigration manual/policy.
  • Principal applicant should be having knowledge of New Zealand market and business environment.
  • Proposed business should be based on an identified business which principal applicant should have identified by his/her survey of New Zealand market.
  • A viable business plan providing realistic financial forecast for next three years.
  • Proposed business should be beneficial to New Zealand.

Amendment Circular (No. 2005/04) contains amendments to Government immigration policy and Government residence policy in the NZIS Operational Manual.
